  • Bru-HIMS

The Bru-HIMS (Brunei Darussalam Healthcare Information and Management System) is a nationwide e-Health initiative by the Ministry of Health that aims to transform the way healthcare services is provided, to its citizens and residents, by providing practitioners and allied health professionals across public hospitals and health centres in the country with real-time access to patient records at the point of care.

Bru-HIMS Project copyAwarded in 2011, Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd, together with our solution provider, is the system integrator responsible for delivering the Hospital Information System and the integration of various solutions to Bru-HIMS such as the Critical Care Information System, Queue Management System, SMS Gateway, RFID Tagging, Laboratory Quality Control System, Kiosk Check-in System and MIMS Drug Information System. More than 5,000 healthcare professionals will be trained to use Bru-HIMS to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services throughout the continuum of patient care.

The new system will enable healthcare staff to retrieve patients' records through a database without manual searching, and doctors will be able to access patients' medical information and history from their computer and order prescriptions through their computer. This eliminates the use of paper pushing in the hospital and thus will help to reduce patients' waiting time. Doctors can enter and retrieve patients' medical information regardless of locations within the public health system because the data is stored at one place in an integrated system.” Pg Hjh Saadiah binti Pengiran Muda Hj Hashim, Acting Director of Health Technology Department at the Ministry of Health.

“The wide implementation of our Brunei Healthcare Information and Management System (Bru-HIMS) this year will also mark another milestone that will transform our healthcare system particularly enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of our services.” Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Adanan, Minister of Health.

The completion of Bru-HIMS rollout to all four district hospitals, health centres and clinics across the country will see every patient in Brunei with a single electronic health record, making the “One Patient, One Record” journey a reality.
