18 August 2011 - All medical records to be digitized

BRUNEIANS can expect speedier services at all government hospitals and clinics as all medical records will soon be computerised, following the signing of an agreement to implement the Brunei Healthcare Information and Management System (Bru-HIMS).

Acting Director of Healthcare Technology Department at the Ministry of Health Pg Hjh Saadiah Pg Muda Hj Hashim said an electronic patient record will be introduced to replace the medical record folder.

The Ministry of Health signed the agreement with Syarikat Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd to implement the system.

Inking the contract on behalf of MoH was Permanent Secretary Dato Paduka Hj Abd Salam Abd Momin and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional and Technical) Dr Hjh Norlila DP Hj Abd Jalil.

Chief Executive Officer of Syarikat Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd, Elvin Hii and Sales and Marketing Director of iSoft, Jegatheswaren Ponnudurai represented their companies.

Witnessing the signing of the agreement yesterday was Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan.

18 July 2011 - OGP naming contest winners receive prizes

Muhammad Khalil Hazazi bin Abdul Latif who suggested the portal name 'e-darussalam' won himself an Apple iPad2 64GB 3G (WiFi Edition). Four other participants won themselves consolation prizes whose suggested names were short-listed and each received a Canon Powershot A495 Camera and a 2GB Apple iPod Shuffle for the lucky voters.

Prizes were presented by the guest of honour Awg Adi Shamsul bin Haji Sabli, the Director of EGNC. The ceremony was held at Times Square, Berakas in conjunction with the launching of the e-darussalam portal, E-Government National Centre (EGNC).

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of appreciation certificates to EGNC partners who supported EGNC in the e-darussalam launching ceremony and its marketing campaign.

02 July 2011 - Strong support for BRIDEX 2011

BRIDEX 2011 organiser Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS) is gearing up its preparation, including signing memoranda of understanding (MoU) with four local companies, to play host to 161 confirmed exhibitors from 31 countries, with Turkey as the biggest participant.

RBTS Acting Chief Executive and BRIDEX Exhibition Director Hjh Rosmawati Hj Manaf, in an interview with The Brunei Times after the signing ceremony, said yesterday that Turkey, which has a growing industry in equipment and weapon technologies products, will be showcasing its 10 companies during the event from July 6 to 9, 2011

Present as the authorised signatory was B-Mobile's Acting Chief Executive Officer See Wei Kie. Also, Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd, which was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Elvin Hii has been appointed as official video wall provider to provide mobile big screen TVs.

06 May 2011 - EGNC marks 3rd anniversary with blood donation drive

To commemorate its 3rd anniversary, E-Government National Centre (EGNC) organised a blood donation campaign at its main office yesterday morning, according to a press release.

More than 60 people comprising EGNC staff and officers, as well as several companies, namely Ishajaya Technologies, IT Protective Security Services (ITPSS), ZNET Technologies, BS Syscom, TechOne Global, ELITE Computer Systems and Universal System Technologies.

Apart from celebrating EGNC's anniversary, the campaign was also held as an effort to support the Blood Bank Centre to help increase the blood supplies and cultivate a sense of care among EGNC staff, vendors and the public.

20 March 2011 - 39 Businesses given AITI Accredited Business Status

THIRTY-NINE ICT businesses have so far been awarded with the AITI Accredited Business (AAB) Status, making the businesses eligible to receive industry development initiatives such as grant schemes and training subsidies, the Authority for Info-communications Technology said.

In a public notice published yesterday, AITI said "the AAB Status is a symbol of recognition from an authority body, AITI ... Brunei ICT businesses will gain credentials especially in doing business locally and overseas," it added.

The scheme aims to recognise the value of homegrown ICT businesses through accreditation while allowing AITI to keep track of business development within the ICT industry.

23 April 2011 - Dell appoints three new distributors

DELL has appointed three local IT providers to distribute its suite of commercial and enterprise products and solutions in the country.

Ishajaya Technology Sdn Bhd, BruSin Trading Company Sdn Bhd and Folec Communications (B) Sdn Bhd will distribute Dell's portfolio of enterprise solutions, including servers, storage and networking products, to cater to the growing needs of local businesses.

10 February 2011 - Open house to welcome Year of the Rabbit

The lion dance is a traditional ritual during the Chinese New Year festivities. The lion dance performance is said to bring good luck, fortune, prosperity and happiness both for the families and business premises.

Ishajaya Technology yesterday did not miss out in celebrating the 'Year of the Rabbit'. A Chinese New Year open house was held at its main office at Regent Square in Kiulap. The event was attended by Mr Elvin Hii, the CEO, staff, Ishajaya's clients, family members, business partners and friends.

The Lion Dance Troupe from Foochow Association, Kuala Belait began the performance with the sound of firecrackers accompanied with the banging of the drums and gongs.

The lion dance was held around the shop and the office as a symbolic gesture to bless the business and bring good 'ong' for the owner.

At the end of the performance, the lion dance troupe symbolically sculpted a dragon made from oranges, vegetables and replicas of gold bars.

According to Danny Tay, one of the performers, the dragon sculpture supposedly will bring fortune, luck, health and prosperity to the owner. A tray filled with fruits and vegetables was served to the 'lion' at the end of the ceremony.
