SAP also provides analytical tools which will allow companies analyse data that are stored and collected through the system.

The Technology Innovation Summit was organised by Ishajaya Technology and SAP. It was held at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of the Empire Hotel and Country Club.

18 May 2013 - Bru-HIMS registration at RIPAS Hospital A&E, Radiology

MEMBERS of the public are urged to update their registry under the Brunei Darussalam Healthcare Information and Management System (Bru-HIMS) as soon as possible following the full implementation of the system which is currently being done in stages.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health in a press statement yesterday where it disclosed that the use of the electronic records for patients will be first implemented at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital with the first stage being carried out for the Accident & Emergency (A&E) and Radiology services on May 21.

The usage of Bru-HIMS for patient records is required to ensure that the patients' personal data and information are accurate so it may be turned into an electronic record. The public, along with their family members, are reminded to register themselves in order to avoid any inconveniences.

Furthermore, the implementation of Bru-HIMS will serve to ease the management of patients and to prevent any undesirable congestions or delays while waiting to receive attention from doctors especially in the A&E or while conducting ongoing Radiology treatments or X-rays.

Registration for Bru-HIMS can be done in three ways, for both the public and patients of RIPAS.

Individuals are welcome to register themselves by filling in a form at the registration counter at any government hospital or Bandar Seri Begawan health clinics by bringing their identity card or a copy of it.

A copy of the Bru-HIMS registration form can also be obtained at the Ministry of Health (MoH's) website, www. MoH.gov.bn, and return their filled in copy along with a copy of their identity card to any registration counter of hospitals and health clinics. Lastly, individuals also have an option to register online using the Bru-HIMS Mobile application. Android users can download the application through the Play Store while Apple users can download Bru-HIMS through the Apple Store App Store.

Upon completion of a successful registration, a new electronic record number will be given. However, during the earlier stages of the transfer towards electronic records from the manual records, it is to be expected that the usual procedures of patient managements will be affected and may result in some delays in the provision of services.

Members of the public are reminded that these setbacks are only temporary until all citizens and residents of the country has registered into Bru-HIMS. In the statement, the ministry reiterated that they will try their best to handle and minimise any possible problems that may arise, additionally, they ask for the public's patience and support for the implementation of the new electronic system.

14 March 2013 - Call to register at RIPAS Hospital under new system

THE public were requested to come forward and register their personal information at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital following the launching of pre-registration for the newly set-up Bru-HIMS system yesterday.

The system was officially launched by the Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof.

Bru-HIMS which stands for Brunei Darussalam Healthcare Information and Management System is a system that electronically registers patients, manages appointments, records clinical notes and makes requests for radiology and lab tests. The system also allows doctors to prescribe medicines electronically.

Acting Director of Healthcare Technology Pg Hjh Saadiah Pg Muda Hj Hashim said, "The launching of Bru-HIMS has been a success in the Tutong District after its implementation in July last year, with the Bru-HIMS plan being rolled out in other districts. Bru-HIMS is now moving forward with the registration in the Brunei-Muara District"

She also assured that the implementation of Bru-HIMS would be done in an optimal fashion with as little interference and disturbance as possible to patient safety and care. Early registration will also lessen the overcrowding at registration counters when manual medical records will have to be updated into the system.

Patients need only register once, upon which patient data will be fully accessible at four districts at both hospitals and health centres. This means that those in Tutong and Belait need not register.

There are nine registration counters made available: at the lobby of the outpatient area, the specialist clinic, the pediatric clinic, the blood taking sample area, the department of radiology, the obstetrics and gynaecology clinic, the two specialist buildings and the psychiatric clinic.

Opening hours for registration are during working hours. The public are required to bring their IC or copies of the ICs of those family members that they want to register. The Health Ministry said that registration would open to health centres in the Brunei-Muara District shortly.

18 May 2013 - Bru-HIMS dilaksanakan secara berperingkat-peringkat

27 February 2013 - Bru-HIMS at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital (SSBH) in Kuala Belait

Kuala Belait - The implementation of Brunei Darussalam's Health Information Management System (Bru-HIMS) at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital (SSBH) in Kuala Belait was reviewed in a visit by Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Health.

Bru-HIMS was first used at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital earlier this year and is currently in the second phase. Bru-HIMS has been used at the in-patient area, medical ward, laboratory, pharmacy and x-ray.

Bru-HIMS integrates patients' information management systems in medical services and health. With the Bru-HIMS project, the effectiveness and efficiency of patient-handling process will be enhanced to provide the best medical care.

The minister was briefed on the progress and implementation of Bru-HIMS and was brought to visit the In-Patient Registration Centre, Medical Wards, Laboratories, Pharmacy, Radiology Department, Medical Records Department and the Training and Development Centre building that is still under construction.

A staff at Sun Seri Begawan Hospital said Bru-HIMS Information Counter holds the role of disseminating information on Bru-HIMS to the public and also as a centre to collect the Bru-HIMS medical appointment card for patients that have already registered with Bru-HIMS. In-Patient Registration Centre was introduced to overcome the problem faced in the wards and it helps in the process of monitoring the patients being admitted into the ward.

Whereas at the laboratories, Bru-HIMS is used together with the surgical ward services where all applications for laboratory tests can be retrieved through Bru-HIMS following the procedure. The use of Bru-HIMS in laboratories cuts time in receiving the laboratory results and lessens the use of papers.

At the pharmacy, implementation of BruHIMS is running smoothly where the system can be connected to all wards and medication needs can be channelled or supplied by medical officers to the pharmacy.

As for the Radiology Department, the Clinical Help of Radiology Department can harness Bru-HIMS especially in getting the reports from radiology experts online.

Medical Records Department has not used Bru-HIMS wholly but they have implemented pre-registration proactively by organizing registry campaigns in government offices and schools to increase the total number of registrations, which currently stands at 7,000.

In the near future, this department will use the semi-Bru-HIMS, where two counters will be made available: Bru-HIMS Counter and Normal Counter.

Also present from the ministry were Hjh Siti Mariam binti Haji Mohd Jaafar, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance Department); Dr Hjh Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional and Technical Department) as well as Mohammaad bin Haji Abd Hamid, CEO of Sufi Seri Begawan Hospital; head of directors and senior officers at the Ministry of Health and Suri Seri Begawan Hospital
